So Unlimited Storage in Managed Service is also Unlimited Billing?

We started this month with a managed service.
Our data storage is reporting 27.7GB storage.

But we are currently billed for 1.53TB (yes TB) on average storage per hour.

As I understand that indexes and stuff takes extra storage, I really don’t understand where the 1.53 TB is coming from. Support says its the PITR/Unlimited Storage.

As this is PITR, I am wondering how my storage will be in 30 days? It grows every day; of course our data is growing too but with MB’s a day.

Not sure how PITR is stored, but I though it was kind of a smart way.

So is the unlimited storage feature, a way to unlimited bill for storage?

So 2 days later… I now will be billed for 2.44TB !! while or disk storage has slightly increased (100MB).

Hi Stefandevo,
Thanks for reporting this. You’ve uncovered a case of very high write amplification for tables with a continuous point write workload and that are relatively small in size. This write amplification is reflected in inflated storage usage since you have PITR enabled.

We’re investigating ways to resolve this but in the mean time we can decrease the PITR retention period for you. I saw you have an open support ticket for this already; we can follow up there with more details.
